Porsche is expanding its line-up of pure electric models, adding Turbo GT models to the mid-term Taycan, and launching the Weissach kit, designed for the track, directly removing the rear seat, with an output of more than 1100 horsepower and a 100-second break time of 2.2 seconds, which is "eye-popping". At the same time, it has set new lap records for two tracks. How does Porsche create such a high-performance electric car? What new technologies are there? Let’s analyze in detail.

The electric car has a serious problem, that is, the weight brought by the large battery. Like people, it is not easy to be a flexible fat man. The first element of a sports car is weight loss. Porsche has reduced the weight of the Taycan Turbo GT by 75 kilograms (compared to the Turbo S) through intelligent lightweight construction. The body is insured with many carbon fiber components, including B-pillar trim, rearview mirror shell and side skirt inlays, etc. The barrel seats inside are also made of carbon fiber, and the weight is further reduced with the light trunk and the elimination of the electric tailgate.

The Taycan Turbo GT comes standard with the Active Ride suspension specifically tuned by Porsche’s GT department. Porsche’s GT is like BMW’s M, and the models launched meet the needs of track driving, such as the 911 GT3. During dynamic driving, the wheel load is balanced and distributed, and the suspension ensures that the tires stay on the ground with the road, maintaining a stable grip, and there is no extra bounce. In the braking section, the Taycan Turbo GT comes standard with lightweight ceramic brakes, based on Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). The design changes of the brake disc and brake caliper housing have reduced the weight by more than 2kg, further reducing the sprung weight. The calipers are coated with a racing-like gold coating.

If the Weissach kit is optional, the Taycan Turbo GT weighs 70kg again. Unlike the standard rear seat, the Weissach kit removes the seat, leaving only the carbon fiber backrest. At the same time, the charging ports on both sides of the vehicle are changed to one, which is opened manually instead of electrically, reducing weight. The combined power of the front and rear motors reaches 580kw and the torque is 1340Nm. Press the supercharge mode on the steering wheel to increase the power to 760kw. In addition, the vehicle also has an Attack mode, which is similar to the racing car in the FE electric formula. The power briefly reaches 815kw, which is 1108 horsepower. It lasts for 2 seconds and can be used when overtaking.

The Turbo GT can break 100 in 2.3 seconds and 200 km/h in 6.6 seconds; while it only takes 2.2 seconds to break 100 after using the Weissach kit, and the speed can reach 305 km/h. There are not many electric vehicles that can achieve this data.

The Taycan is equipped with a 105-degree battery as standard. Under WLTP test conditions, the Turbo GT model has a range of 555 kilometers, which is more practical than some high-performance cars with a range of about 450 kilometers.
